If something sounds unclear, clarify it smoothly.

Don’t restart the whole sentence.
SET 1 – Basic Clarifying Phrases (2×8)
Add a natural clarification.
- It was difficult.
- It didn’t work.
- I didn’t like it.
- It was strange.
- He was upset.
- It changed.
- It was fine.
- I was busy.
- It was good, I mean, better than last time.
- I didn’t expect that, what I mean is, it surprised me.
- It was hard, I mean, mentally hard.
- I liked it, I mean, parts of it.
- It didn’t feel right, what I mean is, something was off.
- I was tired, I mean, really exhausted.
- It was quick, I mean, quicker than I thought.
- I understood, what I mean is, I got the main idea.
→ I mean, it was more stressful than I expected.
→ What I mean is, it didn’t work the way I thought.
→ I mean, it just wasn’t my thing.
→ What I mean is, it felt a bit off.
→ I mean, he looked really disappointed.
→ What I mean is, it changed completely.
→ I mean, it was okay, not amazing.

Use one clarifying phrase naturally.

Say one short story and clarify one detail.
