Set a clear limit without sounding aggressive.

One limit statement. Keep tense stable.
SET 1 – Using “I can’t…” (3×6)
Firm but neutral.
- I can’t take this on right now.
- I can’t stay late today.
- I can’t commit to that deadline.
- I can’t agree without more details.
- I can’t promise that yet.
- I can’t make that decision alone.
- I’m not able to join the meeting tomorrow.
- I’m not able to respond immediately.
- I’m not able to approve this yet.
- I’m not able to move it forward right now.
- I’m not able to change the schedule.
- I’m not able to guarantee the result.
- I can’t do that because I’m already committed.
- I’m not able to help since I’m fully booked.
- I can’t stay longer because I have another meeting.
- I’m not able to approve it until we review it.
- I can’t move forward without confirmation.
- I’m not able to agree unless we adjust the plan.
SET 2 – Using “I’m not able to…” (3×6)
Slightly softer structure.
SET 3 – Boundary + Short Explanation (3×6)
Still controlled. One added reason.

Say one firm but calm limit without hesitation.

Your sentence stays structurally clean.
You don’t over-explain after setting the boundary.
