Past Time Without Mixing

  2. Say the sentence even if it feels slow.
  3. Rest 10 seconds between sets.
  4. Stop when the pattern feels easier to repeat.

Use past time contrast to show change.

Daniel's change

  1. A few weeks ago, Daniel was afraid to speak.
  2. Now he is having real conversations.
  3. A few weeks ago, the city felt difficult.
  4. Now life is getting easier.
  5. A few weeks ago, he got lost.
  6. Now he checks the address first.
  7. A few weeks ago, he was alone.
  8. Now he knows a few people.

Real examples

  1. A few weeks ago, I was nervous.
  2. Now I feel better.
  3. A few weeks ago, English was harder.
  4. Now I understand more.
  5. A few weeks ago, I didn't practice much.
  6. Now I study every day.
  7. Before, I was quiet.
  8. Now I ask questions.

Your Turn

Use Past Simple for finished time.

Use Present Perfect when the result matters now.

Daniel's story

  1. Daniel arrived six months ago.

  2. He has made new friends.
  1. He was afraid to speak before.

Real examples

Use past reflection to think about what changed and what you learned.
